The Pop up of Sacrifice

In our quest to build a tiny camper, we had to have a starting place. After searching Craigslist and other online sources for a camper to rebuild we found a 1978 Venture popup. We wanted a regular camper but those were hard to come by and were either snapped up quickly or over priced because they were considered a vintage camper. We paid a big $350 for the popup. It had a roof top A/C that I wanted for our current fifth wheel. The fifth wheel has the wiring in place for a second A/C unit and this one blows really cold air. Our plans begin with stripping the pop up down to the frame.
Here is the original. Looks Sad.
We parked the popup under the cover to start dismantling it. It has
been a while since I worked one of these.
This doesn't make for fun camping.

The wonderful dinette

The previous owner put a house style toilet in the camper.
Ingenuity!

The stove and sink

They added a roof top A/C. Too bad
they didn't think about the extra weight. They put a pig tale
on it to plug it in.

Here's that toilet again. No room for modesty.

The mirror survived

Everything must go.

Me destroying stuff.
Here it is with all of the insides removed
and the canvas gone. I am hoping to use the slides in the cargo
area of my fifth wheel. They should make
some nice slide out shelves.
Tomorrow I am going to the tag department to register the camper before I completely dismantle it. I hope that goes smoothly. My wife plans to list the cushions and toilet on the internet to try and make some money back. Hopefully I will be able to post some more tomorrow.
